I had to post this because I found it absolutely absurd! A little back story on the subject first. A member at MMORPG.com had posted some articles that portrayed greed monger in a negative light. Mainly it pointed out some issues with how they presented their kickstarter and how now they are asking for even more funding from kickstarter. If there is one thing you can stamp on that it is scam, if you do not believe that, then the next best word would be ignorant. The people making greed monger obviously had no idea what they were getting into before they said that they would be making this game and started taking people’s money.
Back to the main point, any company anywhere should know that they are constantly being judged by the entire internet. As someone that is leading a company, this Appleton fellow is either oblivious or arrogant. Recently a company put out a little game you may of heard of called “The War Z” and after a ton of complaints, getting pulled from steam, and getting the rights to use the name “The War Z” taken away, they have made their first good move by making a public apology. The way that company was being run and the way that greed monger is being run are strikingly similar. If this Appleton guy does not realize that every time he gets in a fight with someone on the internet that he is just making himself look bad, he will never achieve much in this industry. I will steal a quote from someone else in the thread now, “the Internet never forgets.”
The worst part about all of this is the private message sent to the member that is quoted above. Appleton is threatening to go after a person for making an opinion, he is no better than a Nazi at this point in my eyes. If you cannot take the criticism then get out of the industry. Something as ignorant as threatening someone over messages on a website just furthers my conclusion that greed monger is a scam and will never be a good game. My piece of advice for Appleton is to shut his mouth and start reading the concerns and answering the questions. If he cannot do that then he should shut up and stop making himself the fool.

Appleton is one of the leaders behind the game called greed monger. As it stands now they are on a second kickstarter after saying they would only need one. The game looks like a scam and someone pointed it out. Appleton then threatens that person and made himself look like an idiot. Take greed monger off your lists because it is obvious it is being ran by someone with no idea how to run a company.
I did not capitalize greed mongers because I consider it vapor wear and thus not a noun.
I have been watching Greed mongers for past few months and I am even a high end backer of the KS. I do not see a issue with him going after a troll. I due think he should have someone to deal with public media instead of himself because of how close he is to it. Most of the problems I have seen them calling the DEVs of greed monger out for are things that have been talked about and informed in the GM forums. They are quoting people saying a second KS will be started. Also that they were going to a sub 10 system. The facts from what I have been told in forums and in private messages is that the 10 dollar sub system is getting talked about but is not set in stone. This Sub system is due to the change to hero engine. GM was going to use a unity engine but they did not know about the extra packages they were going to have to buy to deal with stream-less zone changes and other options they wanted in the game. They were posting in forums and asking the players thoughts on this topic because with hero engine they are getting forced by the owners of hero to put a sub system in or a cash money shop due to hero requiring this to take a % of the income for allowing use of the engine and software for it. As for the second KS this was talked about due to the fact they wanted to change from the servers they had to start using cloud servers. With the change to the hero engine systems the hero cloud severs will be used to host so the second KS will not be needed. It was to fund the first 6months of the game hosting on a cloud server system to allow the land sale system to start bringing in income and then it would fund the servers. Context is everything like I seen someone post and these peoples fact checking is a joke. As for waffleyone getting banned for posting the truth in the GM forums about the issue in WURM forums is pretty much BS. He did start out as posting links to those threads but then it turned into him trolling the devs and the game in general. I was a member of the forums before all that was going on and watched it all unfold, and by the time he was IP banned he was just creating accounts to keep attacking the DEVs. I have voiced concerns with the game myself in the GM forums and I was not banned for the thread I posted. instead I had both Appleton and other DEVs reply to my thread with information and reasons for the things that I was having a issue with. That is a long, but informative post Ziel. I have taken the liberty to contact kickstarter on the changing the sub issue. This is actually against the agreement that GM had to make with kickstarter people, so I hope they make an smart decision on how to deal with the sub model since they will most likely have people charging back if they go subscription based.
I completely agree that Appleton should be removed from PR, and there seems to be a James P that is very good at it and a programmer no less. It is interesting to me to find someone that has less social skills then a person with a career that is commonly stereotyped as very anti-social. Guess stereotypes are just not what they used to be, huh?
